SASAD is a BC based non-profit society, created to fight systemic racism and biases against the South Asians and other marginalized  communities.

We believe in equality for all and advocate for those who do not have a voice or are afraid to speak up about discrimination they have experienced.

Since the inception of our nation, a tapestry of unjust policies and laws has woven a fabric of inequality, ensnaring South Asian communities in a web of denied civil rights and liberties, and systematically barring them from opportunities in education, housing, employment, and myriad other realms.

Through our Systemic Equality initiative, we endeavour to wield the tools of nationwide litigation, advocacy, and public education to sow the seeds of racial equity within our laws and policies. Our mission is to uproot discriminatory policies, laws, and practices that disproportionately burden marginalized communities.

People Power serves as the grassroots hub for societal action. Collaborating with volunteers and supporters nationwide, we champion the defense of civil liberties and civil rights in every community.

Inclusive Economy

The elusive nature of the so-called ‘American’ or Canadian dream is evident. Extensive research underscores what we already understand — investing in communities of color is vital to addressing the impacts of racism and historical disinvestment. However, current policies are inadequate.

Colored families earn less than their counterparts, highlighting one of many financial disparities resulting from decades of discriminatory policies. These issues are not isolated to just employment, but extend to areas such as capital markets, legal societies and many other sectors of business.

Achieving economic equity is essential for establishing comprehensive racial equity for minoirty individuals. It's not only crucial for colored people to contribute to the economy as workers and consumers but also to have equal access to resources and opportunities for success as entrepreneurs and investors

Forging a path to our financial future

Economic equity stands as a cornerstone in achieving comprehensive racial equity for colored individuals. It's imperative that colored people not only participate in the economy as workers and consumers but also as entrepreneurs, with equal access to resources and opportunities for success.

Income Equity

Everyone should have access to fair wages and benefits, along with opportunities to establish credit, obtain financing, build assets, and save for the future. We advocate for policy, procedural, and systemic reforms aimed at narrowing the racial wealth disparity.

Promoting Economic Inclusion

We believe in supporting community-driven initiatives that foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and allyship. Our efforts focus on broadening access and involvement in markets for South Asian workers, consumers, and entrepreneurs. We aim to facilitate entrepreneurship by developing infrastructure for cooperative ventures, inclusive procurement processes, and support networks such as incubators and accelerators.

The Future of South Asian Workers

Citizen-led movements help amplify the voice of workers toward growing a strong middle-class economy. We support developing entrepreneurs and business ownership models that can create or retain jobs in our communities, while leveraging innovative partnerships to train workers for in-demand jobs and jobs of the future.

Fostering Inclusive Economic Policies

Advancing toward an inclusive economy demands courageous policy measures and a sustained, multifaceted approach involving collaboration with community leaders, elected representatives, and allies. Together, we strive to close opportunity gaps and create a more equitable economic landscape.

Join us in our crusade to secure equitable access to housing, voting rights, education, employment and beyond for all individuals.

Your engagement, whether through learning, pledging your support, or contributing, is pivotal in cultivating a future where everyone thrives with unimpeded access to education, employment, housing, voting rights, and beyond.
